Is it time to ban booze on flights?
With the worrying rise in alcohol-related violence in the air, is it time to ban booze on flights?
Shocking footage last weekend of drunken British air passengers fighting on a plane and then with French police has once again highlighted the alarming rise in air rage.
With incidents increasing 340 percent, authorities in Britain and the EU are considering introducing legislation to tackle the worsening problem.
Research from a poll of over 3,000 people undertaken by travel specialists, Holiday Extras, has revealed that 95% of people think that drunk airline passengers should be fined for unruly behaviour onboard, with nearly half of those surveyed stating that drunken behaviour is “highly disruptive”.
Statistics also show that over a fifth of people think that boozy passengers should be fined up to £1,000 for causing a nuisance. This may result from the fact that as well as causing a disruption, drunken behaviour can cause delayed flights.
A poll we're running on Twitter until tomorrow morning currently shows that just over 60% think alcohol should be banned on flights. Do you agree? There's still time to cast your vote.
