Amplify: The Regions
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED - WE AIM TO CONTACT SELECTED COMPANIES WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF THE CLOSING DATE.
AMPLIFY: THE REGIONS
ITV is one of the biggest commissioners of new UK programmes from outside London, working from bases all over the UK. Why are regional commissions important to ITV? They provide the opportunity to inclusively reflect the society within which we all live. They provide diversity of talent both on and off screen; diversity of ideas and stories; plus diversity of voice, opinions and experiences.
We want ideas from the regions, about the regions and produced by the regions in the regions.
We want the biggest and best ideas on ITV wherever in the UK they are.
And so we’re launching a pilot initiative ‘Amplify: The Regions’ as part of our commitment to work closely with Independent Production Companies across the regions and accelerate our relationships with them.
We are looking for five companies to take part who will each be matched with a genre Commissioner at ITV, receive a brief to work on some ideas and then pitch to the Commissioner. As part of the initiative, each company will be given £5,000 to develop any potential ideas.
FAQs
How do I apply?
To apply, we are asking you to fill in this google form where we will ask you to fill in details including why you would like to be part of this initiative.
What is the deadline for the application?
APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED - WE AIM TO CONTACT SELECTED COMPANIES WITHIN 6 WEEKS OF THE CLOSING DATE.
The deadline to apply was midnight on 10 November 2023.
What happens if I am successful?
If you are chosen as one of the five companies, we will be in touch with more details including which Commissioner you have been matched with and we will introduce you to them to start the process.
What is the process if I have been selected?
You will be introduced to a Commissioner who will then meet with you to discuss ITV’s brief. Once this meeting has been completed, you will then develop potential ideas to the brief. Once you are ready, you will pitch to the Commissioner to see if they like the ideas. If they do like the ideas, you will go through the standard ITV commissioning process.
Will I get paid as part of this initiative?
The companies taking part will all receive a grant of £5,000.
Do I get to choose which Commissioner/genre I work with?
We will match you with a Commissioner as part of the selection process - and you will be asked what genres you produce in the form.
Will this paid development mean a commission?
This is not a guaranteed commission but if the Commissioner likes the idea you have pitched to their brief, this will then lead to a paid development commission as per the standard ITV commissioning process.
What happens with the ideas I have developed for this initiative if the Commissioner doesn’t like them?
If the Commissioner decides to pass on the ideas you have pitched, you are free to take the ideas you have developed elsewhere.
What is the criteria to qualify?
You need to be an Independent Production Company based wholly in the regions and not part of a larger Corporate group.
How does the selection process work?
Once the deadline has passed, a team of Commissioners from across our genres will review applicants and select 5 companies who fit the criteria and the brief.
How is this different from Amplify: The Companies?
Amplify: The Companies (which launched last year) is targeted at diverse-led companies and Amplify: The Regions is targeted at regional Indies.
Will this initiative happen again next year?
It is a pilot initiative and we absolutely hope to repeat it.
How is this different to regular development funding?
It is a targeted initiative intended solely for regional companies and focused on forging and accelerating relationships.
How many times will I meet the Commissioner?
You will most likely have two meetings - one initial meeting to kick off followed by one to pitch ideas, but you can discuss with your Commissioner how you are going to work together as part of the initiative.
