'We spent Christmas with our son, thanks to This Morning'
From September 2015 to November 2016, Matthew Garnett (then 15) - who has autism, ADHD and anxiety – had been held in mental health treatment units that he described it to his parents as his ‘prison’.
We first met mum Isabelle and dad Robin in March 2016, when their heartbreaking story brought Holly to tears on the sofa. Their year-long campaign for Matthew to be moved into a community home paid off - and he now lives an unrestrained and happy life.
Today Matthew's parents are back to tell us about how even after spending Christmas with their son for the first time at home in two years, they still can’t help but feel they were let down by the healthcare system and that there’s still a long way to go to help other families.
