We meet the Scottish couple saving children’s lives around the world
Half a million children in England and Wales will undergo some sort of surgery this year. But in many parts of the world - the medical care we take for granted is non-existent.
In those countries, even the simplest of medical problems can become fatal. Changing that has become the life work of a former Miss Scotland, and her husband.
Nicola and Garreth Woods set up their charity Kids Operating Room in 2018, and since then have helped more than 100,000 children by funding state-of-the-art, child-friendly operating rooms, in some of the poorest parts of the world.
Today they tell us their story, and why there’s still so much more work to be done.
