The latest fitness trend you can do on your sofa

It’s the latest fitness trend sweeping social media with over 1.5 million views on TikTok. 'Cosy Cardio' is a new workout approach that transforms your morning exercise into an enjoyable everyday activity. Shakira Akabusi joins us in the studio to show us some of these simple yet effective exercises.

Shakira's exercises

1. A sofa twist and knee touch - sit on the sofa with your feet on the floor and lightly touch your temples with your hands. Lift up your torso and bend to the right until your left elbow touches your right knee, then do the same action the other side.

2. Sitting down punches - whilst sitting down on the sofa start punching with both arms outwards while lifting your knees.

3. Single leg squats- stand on one leg in front of the sofa and slowly squat to sit back down onto the sofa.

4. Glute bridges - lie on the floor with your feet resting on the sofa, lay your arms flat and slowly raise your hips whilst engaging your glutes.

5. Push ups and mountain climbers - use the sofa to place your hands on whilst in a plank position. Do a combination of mountain climbers where you'll alternate bringing one knee to your chest then back out again. As well as push ups by lowering your chest and then raising back up.
