The friends fighting for tougher laws against drunk cyclists after collision
In March 2022, Kate Wilson and her friend Samantha were heading home in Cheshire when they were suddenly hit by a drunk cyclist from behind, who had mounted the pavement. The collision threw Kate 12 feet in the air, knocking her unconscious, smashing her front teeth and causing such severe injury to her hand that she eventually needed a finger amputated.
Although the cyclist fled the scene, he was later caught and sentenced to a 14 month suspended jail term but without need to pay any compensation. Kate and Samantha are calling for tougher laws around reckless cyclists and join us today to share their story.
