Skin lightening is a multi-billion-pound global industry, with millions of people using creams and lotions to alter the pigment of their skin. But despite this, skin lightening is still a taboo subject, and many are shamed into using illegal creams, soaps and pills containing highly damaging ingredients like mercury, bleach and acid.
Joining us today is former model Irene Major, who has been lightening her skin for nearly seven years and now spends up to £2,000 a year on products to change the colour of her complexion.
