Rylan says reboot is 'the Ready Steady Cook we know and love'!
Get ready for the return of Percy Pepper and Susie Salt, because Ready Steady Cook is back. The iconic show is returning to our screens after 10 years, with a revamped look and a brand-new host... Rylan!
As he takes on presenting duties, Rylan’s here to tell us what we can expect from the reboot.
"This was part of my childhood", Holly told Rylan, "I'd come home from school, and it'd be the first thing - you'd put Ready Steady Cook on, and see who was going to win..."
"And you know you're home from school!", agreed Rylan.
"It's exactly the same format - so it's the Ready Steady Cook that all us lot that grew up with it, and have known it forever will know and love, we've just got a new part of the show."
Rylan went on to detail that there are now two timed cooks in the show, a 20-minute cook and a 10-minute cook - and after watching a clip of the reboot featuring Rylan and Greek chef Akis Petretzikis, Holly asked, "Do you actually help, or hinder here?"
Rylan explained that time pressures meant all the chefs asked him to help them, "We do it for real, it's not fake - it's not a telly 20 minutes, it's a real 20 minutes!"
Rylan also talked about Ready Steady Cook's new environmental goals, "We've reduced plastic on the show by physically the amount that we can, so all the food produce is ethically sourced, so we're looking at food miles as well."
"I'm head of bins" Rylan continued, "so we've got three bins. One for food waste, one for non-food waste, and then one for plastic recycling. Whenever I say anything go near a bin that's nothing to do with that bin, I've got the right hump!"
Phillip asked about Rylan's fish aversion. Rylan revealed, "When I was a kid I fell on the fish counter in Sainsbury's. Have you ever seen a hake up close? It is the most ugly fish... I fell on a hake... And you think my teeth are bad!"
Turning down an appointment with Speakmans, Rylan said, "Sorry, Nik, Eva, love ya - no. Since that hake - ruined it for everyone!"
