Piers Morgan still considers Trump 'a close friend' and buried the hatchet by phone

Piers Morgan has revealed he's buried the hatchet with President Donald Trump after he unfollowed the presenter on Twitter.

The pair had seen their close friendship strained earlier this year, after Piers Morgan criticised his handling of the coronavrius crisis, however, all appears to be well after they shared a phone call in the run up to the U.S elections.

Speaking to Phillip and Holly, Piers said: "I spoke to him, he rang me out of the blue, last weekend. We had a half an hour conversation about everything, he knows how critical I've been about the coronavirus."

Talking about how their conversation came about he said President Trump reached out after seeing his interview on an American programme.

"I called him out, and I said you should start refollowing me on Twitter, because he unfollowed me when I told him to shut the bleep up about coronavirus... and it all got pretty unpleasant.

"But he saw me talk about it and he called me up, and you know I still consider him to be a friend, I've known him a long time."

Asked whether the American President is now following him back on the social media platform Piers said: " He's not... but he did plug my book!"

Elsewhere, Piers Morgan has a new book, in which he aims to tackle what he believes is an extreme right-winged ‘woke’ generation. The book, Wake Up documents how, in his opinion, ‘the world’s gone nuts’.
