Peter Shilton "I don't know how much I lost in total, but it must be millions"
He is one of England’s greatest ever goalkeepers, holding the record for the most number of caps, but behind the fame and football accolades Peter Shilton was living with a crippling addiction. For four decades, the former England star led a double life as a gambling addict, one that he says nearly ruined him “mentally, physically and financially”. Estimating his losses to over a million pounds, Peter attributes his recovery to his wife, former NHS nurse, Steph. Now, six years in recovery, Peter and Steph candidly tell both sides of Peter’s gambling habit in their new book ‘Saved’. They join us to discuss why they have decided to share their story and how they are helping others who have fallen into addiction.
