Everything you need to know about This Morning's autism support dog Buddy!
Meet Buddy, a very special member of our This Morning family who has a very important mission. He's the newest recruit at Dogs For Autism, where he's training to become an incredible autism assistance dogs.
Once trained, Buddy will be given his forever home to transform the lives of a family in need!
Jan Kiley, Chief Operating Officer for Dogs For Autism, says: 'We train them for children and adults with autism. Training is all about manners and teaching them about what is acceptable and what isn’t, but also giving them lots of interaction with lots of different people and going to different places, but being very careful not to push them too far. Then in the future, around 12-18 months, during the training he will learn to do things specifically for autistic people.”
Who's Buddy been meeting so far?
We catch-up with Buddy and his trainer Hilary to find out what he’s been up to over the summer, including his very first trip to the seaside!
As Buddy prepares for the next big step in his training - living full-time with his foster puppy parents, we have an exciting update on the next phase as an autism assistance support dog.
After months of training, Buddy is now ready to move on to the next stage of becoming a fully-qualified Autism Assistance dog. Meet Buddy's brand new foster carer, Anne Cairns, who has all the p-updates on Buddy’s progress.
You can keep track of what Buddy's been up to at Buddy's Blog.
