Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies on losing mum to infected blood scandal

A public inquiry into what has been called the biggest treatment disaster in NHS history will announce its findings later this month, after 30,000 people in the UK were infected with HIV and Hepatitis C when they were given contaminated blood products during the 1970s and 1980s.

Olympic swimmer and former gladiator Sharron Davies has spoken out about her mother Sheila, who contracted hepatitis C after receiving a blood transfusion during an operation for gallstones in the 1970’s. Sharron would like to see compensation for victims and their families and joins us to share her story.
