Mitch Winehouse upset and angry at Amy film

The film is representing me in a not very good way. There is no balance, there's nothing about the foundation. It's portraying me and my relationship with Amy in not a very good light.

Amy - the Girl Behind the Name is a documentary about Amy Winehouse which hits cinema screens this July. The much-anticipated biopic of the late singer's life follows her childhood in Southgate, north London, to her death from alcohol poisoning in 2011.

Amy's father Mitch Winehouse joins us today to speak about his somewhat rocky relationship with the filmmakers, believing they have portrayed him in the 'worst possible light'.

The film is to go ahead and feature at the Cannes Film Festival later this month, but the Winehouse family will not be attending.

He added: "They've portrayed Amy's last three years as lonely and unhappy and nothing could be further from the truth. She was clear of drugs and had wonderful relationships with Reg and her friends who were with her right towards the end.

"They are not in the film. Most of them went to be interviewed, they either weren't interviewed or walked out because of the way the questions were put to them and they didn't want to be a part of it.

"There is so much more to Amy than what's portrayed in the film."

He added that he thinks "It's preposterous" the film's narrative describes him as an absent father.
