Making money from the comfort of your home
With more people looking for ways to increase their income, online money making schemes have dominated the internet, but do they really work?
From getting paid to watch TV, to writing product reviews, Alice Beer will be looking at the online money making schemes that are really worth your time.
SURVEYS (EARN £10-15 PER DAY)
Earnings vary but £1 per survey is typical. Do one survey a day and you could earn more than £300 a year.
Try getpaidto.com and swagbucks.com. Other sites include YouGov.co.uk - which is reputable and straightforward.
'SURFING' AND WATCHING TV (CAN EARN £10 AN HOUR)
Over Christmas, The Viewers offered telly fans the chance to earn £10 an hour to review festive programming.
PRODUCT REVIEWS (DON'T EXPECT TO EARN BIG - GET CONSUMER 'INCENTIVES' INSTEAD)
Amazon has an incentive scheme called Vine - where they send people products to review (for free), but it's unpaid.
SELL YOUR PHOTOS (YOU COULD EARN AROUND £20 A DAY)
If friends always comment on how nice your holiday snaps are, then why not make some money from them? You can sell your photos (of wildlife or buildings) to stock sites like iStock, Alamy and Shutterstock.
You won't be paid for uploading your photos but you'll receive a commission if your images are bought by advertisers, newspapers or magazines.
Rates vary but if for example, you use Foap on your phone and someone buys your image for £10, you get £5.
SKILLED JOBS FROM HOME (RATES CAN VARY SIGNIFICANTLY)
If you have a skill (like typing or video editing) there is money to be made from undertaking the odd job from home.
Even if you are a bit rusty, it’s worth signing up with a job agency. You can earn good money - and develop your skills.
RENT A PARKING SPACE (£5-10 A DAY)
There are lots of online market-places where you can rent out a parking spot.
Expect to earn a fiver a day in the suburbs, or near a train station, and £10 a day if you’re in a city centre.
RENT A ROOM (EARN UP TO £7,500 P.A. - TAX FREE!)
AirBnB, Spare Room and Gumtree are all good sites for listing your room(s) - they are surprisingly straightforward and free to use!
The site Mondaytofriday might appeal to you if you want some extra cash, but would like your space back at the end of the working week. However, it does cost to place an ad with them.
DOG BOARDING (APPROX. £20 A NIGHT)
If you are a dog lover and have a dog friendly house, then there could be money to be made from doing this.
Please note nobody in the UK is able to board dogs in their home without a license and insurance. This is a legal requirement to ensure the welfare and safety of the animals.
