Lynsey Crombie's top tips for getting your house clean for 2023
Tidy house, tidy mind. After all the Christmas parties, grease and tree needles littering the floor, it's time to get your home spit spot and ready for 2023. Our Queen Of Clean, Lynsey Crombie, joins us with her top tips to give your space a sparkling refresh.
Gravy stains
Table clothes, splashes on clothes, aprons - use a blunt knife to scrape off what you can then blot with a damp white cloth and a drop of washing up liquid.
Pretreat with an oxi action stain remover.
Wash at the highest temperature you can according to the care label.
Candle wax drips
On a tablecloth, napkin, or garment - pop in the freezer with the wax facing upwards for a few hours then pick off what you can or cover in brown paper and gently apply heat from either a warm iron or hair dryer and it will lift away.
You can use this method if you have splashes on the walls too.
Red wine/mulled wine stains
There are two amazing shop bought products that will lift this quickly: - For colours, ace - gentile, bleach gentle for delicate colourful. - For wine, wine away stain remover
Cast iron pans and skillets
Use olive oil and mix with some coarse salt to make a great scrubber for cast iron and a little kitchen roll.
Water stains on glasses
Soak in white vinegar.
Dirty oven
Eco way to clean it - spritz the inside of the oven with water and make up a paste using bicarb and washing up liquid, mix it together until thick and then using a recycled paint brush, brush all over, leave a few hours or even overnight if you can and then wipe away using a spatula.

Oven trays and dishes
Sprinkle with soda crystals (dri pak soda crystal).
