Jane Dunn's bonfire treats!

Bonfire night is here so Jane has the perfect bakes to make sure your Friday night goes out with a bang!

She’s got three quick and easy sweet treats - S’mores dip, chocolate bonfire bark and quick toffee apples.

Toffee apples

Makes 12

Ingredients

12 mini apples

400g of dairy toffee sweets

A selection of sprinkles (optional)

Method

1. In a larger bowl, pour a kettle of boiling water over the apples to get any wax coating off of them to help make the Toffee stick.

2. Pour the water away, dry the apples well, and stick in a skewer.

3. Get a large tray with parchment paper, ready for the apples to sit on.

4. If using sprinkles, put them all tipped out ready in bowls.

5. For the toffee, in a saucepan over an extremely low heat carefully melt down the toffee sweets, stirring often, until smooth and runny.

6. Remove the pan from the heat, and dip the Apples in.

7. Move the apples about in the pan to cover all the edges

8. Pull the apple up and let the excess drips fall off

9. If coating in sprinkles, roll the apple carefully in sprinkles now

10. Place the apples carefully on the parchment paper and leave to set and cool.

Bonfire bark

Serves 10 pieces

Ingredients

300 g milk chocolate chopped

150 g white chocolate chopped

1/2 tsp yellow food colouring

1/2 tsp orange food colouring

1/2 tsp red food colouring

Popping candy

Chocolate coated popping candy

Sprinkles

Method

1. Line a 9×13″ tray with parchment paper and leave to the side.

2. Melt the milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water, stirring gently until completely melted (don’t let the bowl touch the water!), or alternatively, you can melt in the microwave in short bursts.

3. In a separate small bowl, melt the white chocolate either over another pan of simmering water (same as above), or in the microwave in short bursts.

4. Separate the melted white chocolate into 3 different bowls and colour them red, orange and yellow for your fiery pattern!

5. Pour the melted milk chocolate into your lined tray and spread so it's even.

6. Drizzle over the coloured white chocolates and swirl it with the end of a skewer to make your pretty fiery pattern.

7. Evenly sprinkle over both of your popping candies and sprinkles.

8. Leave to set in the fridge.

9. Cut/break into shards and enjoy!

Easy s'mores dip

Serves 8

Ingredients

200-400 g milk chocolate

200-400 g large marshmallows

To Dip

Biscuits

Strawberries

Marshmallows

Chocolate

Apples

Cake

Anything else you fancy!

Method

1. In a large heatproof/microwaveable dish, add your chocolate on the bottom layer.

2. Place marshmallows all over the top of the milk chocolate, so it covers the chocolate.

3. Microwave the dish for 2-4 minutes in 30 second intervals so the chocolate starts to melt, and the marshmallows also start to melt.

4. Once the marshmallows are softer, grill the dish under the grill for 10-20 seconds so the marshmallows toast!

5. Let it cool for two minutes, then dip away! I dip digestive biscuits, strawberries and more!
