‘I make £100,000 a year selling dead mice’
They say you should never work with animals, but does it count if the animal is… dead? Katie Hardwick (38) is a full-time taxidermist, stuffing and selling dead mice for thousands of pounds a year.
She stuffs at least five a day and creates mini-scenes by attaching them to stripper poles, circus hoops and miniature yoga matts. But despite criticism from vegans, Katie says her mini creations are very popular and can sell for £55 up to £200. She joined us, along with some of her favourite pieces, to tell us how it all came about, what her family thinks of her chosen career and why she loves it so much.
