How to spot the signs of skin cancer and the symptoms to look out for
Radio DJ Chris Evans has revealed he has been diagnosed with the early stages of skin cancer.
The 57-year-old told his radio show listeners: “I’ve just got to talk briefly about my biopsy for the skin cancer issue. So, the best news that I got whilst I was away is that it was a positive test, so I have tested positive for skin cancer.
“Obviously better news would have been (that it was) negative. But the reason it’s great news is because they’ve caught it as early as they can, as early as is possible.”
According to Cancer Research UK, melanoma skin cancer is the 5th most common cancer in the UK, accounting for 4% of all new cancer cases (2016-2018), with almost 9 in 10 people diagnosed with the disease in England, surviving for ten years or more.
Dr Nighat is here to reflect on Chris Evans' news, and explain the signs and symptoms you need to know in order to spot skin cancer for yourself.
