How to make your own ROYAL crafts

Our craft queen Sophie Prescott is here with a couple of ideas to honour Her Majesty - including decorative wall art and a delicate centrepiece.

Queen silhouette wall art

Things you will need

Picture frame (This needs to be roughly the same dimensions as the Union Jack Fabric), £5.09 Red paint or spray paint, £4.99Union Jack Flag or Union Jack pillow case, from £3.99 depending on sizeBlack felt, 50p per sheetJewels or pearls, £1.00 per packStapler or staple gun, from £4.00Fabric glue or hot glue gun, from £1.00Scissors, £1.50Pencil, 50pQueen's silhouette template

Directions

  • From a sheet of black felt, draw and cut around a template of the Queen's silhouette. Place to one side for later.

  • Remove the glass and backboard of your frame and spray or paint the frame with red paint. Now leave to dry.

  • Now take the backboard of your frame and cut the Union Jack flag/pillow case down to the same size of the backboard, allowing a 2cm extra rim on all sides. Staple the excess to the backboard tightly.

  • Next, glue the black felt Queen's silhouette onto the front of the board and Union Jack pattern.

  • Add some large jewels to the top of the Queen's crown or pearls onto the neck. To finish connect the frame and backboard.

Things you will need

Metal crown, £7.99Faux Flowers, ranges from £1.00 to £10.00Floristry foam brick (dry), £1.00Gold spray paint, £4.99Strong scissors or wire cutters, from £2.50Glue, £1

OPTIONAL: Cake boards (£1.29 for 8 inches wide) and floral stand (£7.99)

Directions

  • Firstly spray paint the crown with gold paint. Leave to dry.

  • Cut and shape the foam brick to fit the dimensions of the crown's base and place inside.

  • Next begin to add your faux flowers, slowly building layers up making sure no foam is visible.

  • Finish off by adding any extra decoration or embellishments onto your crown

  • OPTIONAL - Add a gold stand to make your crown centrepiece stand out and regal.
