Apps that save food as well as money
An app that connects users with stores and restaurants that have unsold surplus food at the end of the day, to help fight food waste. You can buy a ‘Magic Bag’ which comes at a significantly lower price than your average bag of groceries, costing as little as £1.50. Nine million Magic Bags in total have been sold. 7.6 million people have used the app. 17,610 businesses have used the app to reduce their food waste.
OLIO connects neighbours with each other and with local businesses so surplus food can be shared and bought for a fraction of the price, not thrown away. T his could be food nearing its sell-by date in local stores, spare home-grown vegetables, bread from your local bakery, or the groceries in your fridge.
Supermarket Cashback Apps
One of the newest reward apps, Shoppix works by customers simply snapping a picture of their shopping receipts to collect tokens that can be exchanged for gift vouchers or cash prizes.
A number of offers and deals will appear on the app, changing regularly. Customers then go shopping, share their receipt to the app and get the cash back in their Quidco account. This can then be withdrawn into a Paypal or bank account.
Shopmium gives customers money back on their weekly food shop by offering exclusive supermarket offers. This includes 50% off popular items, the chance to win vouchers and to try new products that have come to the market for just £1.
