Fatima Whitbread 'I was abandoned as a baby but I'm one of the lucky ones'
From abandoned baby to world record holder, Fatima Whitbread's story is one of triumph over adversity. Growing up, Fatima had a turbulent childhood spent in a series of children’s homes, before being adopted aged 14 by her javelin coach, which led to her becoming an Olympian. She discusses her new children’s book ‘My Bright Shining Star’, which takes inspiration from her own story and pays tribute to the care home worker who helped teach her that you can still reach for the stars, whatever the circumstances.
