Chris Fountain on rebuilding his life after mini-stroke

Former Coronation Street star, Chris Fountain woke up two months ago unable to speak and subsequently discovered he’d suffered a mini-stroke at the age of just 35.

Despite being into his fitness and living a healthy lifestyle, Chris found out that the stroke was caused by a blood clot in his brain.

The actor is now rebuilding his life and is determined to turn the experience into something positive by ‘living life to the max’.

Recounting the moment he was diagnosed, Chris said: "I remember it vividly because he said the word stroke. As soon as he said stroke, my brain was just going, 'why has this happened? Is this going to happen again?"

Since the diagnosis, Chris has recovered 90% of his speech.

Speaking about the importance of quick action, Dr Ellie Cannon said: "Time is of the essence. When we talk about FAST so that's face, arms, speech, the T is for time, so do exactly what Chris did and call because nowadays when people have a stroke or mini-strokes we treat people like they've had a heart attack, and we can give clot busting drugs really really quickly. So the quicker you do that the better chance of recovery."
