Captain Beany's baked bean museum set for closure

After 13 years Britain’s king of the baked bean, 68-year-old Barry Kirk, who has legally changed his name to ‘Captain Beany’ is auctioning off his saucy collection of baked bean memorabilia.

After building up his collection since the late 90s, Captain Beany opened up his Baked Bean museum in 2009.

The museum includes over 350 items including mugs, a Heinz kitchen and even a coffin! It is also the top rated thing to do on Tripadvisor in Port Talbot in South Wales.

However, the museum is set to close and Barry has been forced to put the collection up for sale on eBay, with a starting bid of 5k, as the housing estate he lives on undergoes renovations.

Since becoming known as Captain Beany, Barry has raised more than £150,000 for charity with his stunts, one of which included him bathing in a bean bath.
