'Cannabis oil cured my cancer - now I want it legalised'
Joy Smith was diagnosed in July 2016 with ovarian cancer. In August 2017 she was given six weeks to live after being diagnosed with stomach and bowel cancer - but now she's in remission and claims cannabis oil - containing the nutritional supplement cannabidiol - cured her terminal disease.
Cannabis oil is derived from cannabis and is legal in the UK - however, Joy’s treatment also contains THC, which is illegal. Joy took the cannabis tablets alongside her chemotherapy treatment as she ticked things off her bucket list and prepared for her demise, but now almost two years on Joy calls herself ‘a walking miracle’.
Joy joins us on the sofa as she reveals why cannabis oil should be legalised for medicinal purposes for those who aren’t recovering with chemotherapy alone. We’ll also hear from Research Consultant Matthew Atha who says there is evidence that cannabis can cure cancer, but we don’t know all the facts yet.
