12-year-old warns against vaping after addiction left her in coma
As we continue our campaign to help stamp out teenage vaping, today we're hearing the terrifying story of 12-year-old Sarah, whose vaping addiction left her fighting for her life.
Sarah admits she first tried e-cigarettes at the age of 9, which later led to an addiction. In September, Sarah was admitted to hospital with an infection, and doctors quickly discovered only one of her lungs was working properly. After being placed into a medically induced coma, doctors were able to bring the infection under control - but blamed vaping for exacerbating Sarah’s asthma and putting her life at risk.
Following her terrifying ordeal, Sarah joins us in the studio today alongside her mum Mary, as she hopes to warn other teenagers to never try vaping. And we hear from respiratory expert Professor Nick Hopkinson.
