WALK THE LINE VIRTUAL AND AUDIENCE VOTE EXPLANATORY NOTE

ITV partnered with ApplauseStore Productions Limited to randomly select households in the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands and offer them the chance to participate in the Walk The Line (“Show”) vote for the six pre-recorded episodes.

The votes were a combination of virtual and audience votes. The chosen households for the virtual vote (“Virtual Chosen Households”) were asked to submit one (1) phone number to ITV that they would use to cast their vote in the Show (“Registered Number”). The Virtual Chosen Households were then sent emails containing a link to a live stream of Show, along with instructions on how to vote and the allocated phone numbers of the fivecontestants. The chosen individuals for the audience votes (“Studio Audience”) were asked to vote in the studio via keypads for their favourite contestants.

The Show was recorded from 9 November 2021 to Saturday 4 December 2021. At the end of all the performances from the contestants for each episode, the telephone voting lines opened and the Virtual Chosen Households were prompted to vote for their favourite act by calling the relevant phone number from their Registered Number. The Studio Audience was also asked to vote for their favourite act by using the provided keypads. The Virtual Chosen Households and Studio Audience had six (6) minutes from the opening of the vote to cast their vote.

Each Virtual Chosen Household and Studio Audience was only able to vote once from their Registered Number and keypads for their favourite contestant. ITV did not count any votes received outside of the six (6) minute window and from any unregistered numbers. Only one (1) vote per Registered Number was counted.

After the voting window closed in each episode, the Virtual Chosen Households votes were combined with the Studio Audience votes.

For the first episode, the top two (2) acts were revealed. The act with the most combined votes (“FirstAct”) was asked whether they wished to cash out and leave the Show, or to ‘Walk The Line’ and go through to the next show. If the First Act decided to cash out and leave the Show, then the second act with the most combined votes (“Second Act”) was crowned champion, progressed to the next show and faced new performers. If the First Act decided to Walk The Line, they were crowned champion and progressed to the next show, and the Second Act was eliminated as well as the other contestants.

For episodes two to five and the final, the champion from the previous show was asked whether they wished to cash out and leave the Show, or Walk The Line:      i.        If they decided to cash out and were the First Act of the episode, the Second Act of the episode was crowned champion and progressed to the next show.     ii.        If they decided to cash out and were not the First Act of the episode, the First Act of the episode was crowned champion and progressed to the next show.  iii.        If they decided to Walk The Line and were the First Act of the episode, they progressed to the next show.   iv.        If they decided to Walk The Line but were not the First Act of the episode, they were eliminated and the First Act of the episode was crowned champion and progressed to the next show.

The act with the most combined votes in the final episode won £500,000.

Please note that the audience was different for each episode of the Show. The Promoter of this vote was ITV Consumer Limited, 2 Waterhouse Square, 140Holborn, London, EC1N 2AE.
