LORRAINE’S INSPIRATIONAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD 2018

Opening/closing date & time:

  • Nomination period opens for entries via email at 08.30 a.m. on Monday 17 September 2018 as announced in the Lorraine programme (the “Programme”).

  • Nomination period closes at midday on Monday 24 September 2018.

  • Voting period opens at 08.00 a.m. on Thursday 11 October 2018 as announced in the Programme.

  • Voting period closes at 10.00 a.m. on Monday 15 October 2018.

Who can enter:

Entrants and the person nominated by an entrant (the “Nominee”) must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • they must both be a UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man resident aged 18 years or over;

  • prior to submitting a nomination, the entrant must have obtained the consent of the Nominee and the Nominee must be aware their nomination is subject to these terms and conditions and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy, part of the prize is attending the Women of the Year Awards to collect their award and that they may be required to appear on the Programme and/or other communications supporting the Women of the Year event;

  • entrants must nominate another person and cannot nominate themselves;

  • Nominees must not be employed or engaged by ITV (or any ITV group company); and

  • Nominees must agree to take part in any filming, broadcast and publicity related to the Women of the Year Awards.

The entrant must be contactable by phone and email within two days following the closing of the nomination period. The entrant and the Nominee must be available for filming purposes or otherwise on five specified dates (as decided at the Promoter’s sole discretion), between Monday 24 September 2018 and Friday 19 October 2018 (inclusive). If selected as a Finalist (as defined below), the Nominee must be available to travel to London the night before the event on Sunday 14 October 2018 to appear on the Programme on Monday 15th October 2018 and attend the Woman of the Year lunch and awards ceremony. The winner must also be available to appear on the Programme on Tuesday 16 October 2018 if required by the Promoter.

The entrant and the Nominee must inform us if the Nominee has ever been convicted of a crime, if the entrant and/or Nominee is the subject of ongoing criminal proceedings or investigations, or if there are any County Court Judgments against the Nominee. If we collect information about criminal convictions, we will treat this information in accordance with the following Privacy Notice: https://itvstudios.com/privacy-notice/talent-contributors-audience. The Nominee agrees that the Promoter has the right to do, or to engage third party organisations to do background checks on the entrant or Nominee to verify the information that they provide in this regard (including but not limited to Disclosure & Barring Service checks or Disclosure Scotland checks carried out by third party organisations). The Promoter shall be entitled to exercise its sole discretion as to whether certain convictions and/or investigations may invalidate the nomination or otherwise result in the termination of the Nominee’s participation in the Competition. In all cases the decision of the Promoter shall be final. If it is discovered the Nominee has undisclosed criminal convictions, then their participation in the Competition may be terminated or any prize or benefit reclaimed or withheld and the entrant and the Nominee agree we may refer to these convictions publicly.

Proof of eligibility may be required. Failure to comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or with these terms and conditions in any way may result in disqualification of the entrant and their Nominee from the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Promoter suspects that an entrant and/or Nominee is not eligible to participate in this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right to terminate or suspend their further participation. The Nominee must comply with any instructions and/or directions as given to them by the Promoter, their subcontractors and agents including without limitation in conformity with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and all applicable rules, laws, regulations and guidelines.

Winner selection date:

The three Finalists will be informed live (either at home or at their place of work as arranged with the entrant) or as a pre-recorded VT during the period 1 October 2018 and 11 October 2018 (inclusive). The Promoter may wish to include the Finalists’ family, friends and/or nominator by way of a special VT which will showcase why the Finalist is special, at the Promoter’s discretion. This VT will include interviews with people that know the Finalist to explain what the Finalist does, why they have been nominated and why they deserve to win.

The winner will be announced at the Women of the Year awards lunch on Monday 15 October 2018.

How to enter:

Viewers must nominate and provide details of a woman they believe deserves to win the Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year award.

To make a nomination, send an email to Lorraine@itv.com with ‘Woman of the Year’ in the subject line and the following information in the body of the email: - Your name and the name of your Nominee; - Your relationship to the Nominee; - Your telephone number; - Your Nominee’s telephone number; - A headshot photo of the Nominee in colour and in JPEG format up to 10MB in size; and - A description (to be no greater than 250 words) outlining why the nominee should be awarded the Inspirational Woman of the Year award including how the nominee has: - dedicated a large amount of time to an organisation, community or specific people; - gone above and beyond the call of duty; - shown care and compassion; - broken down barriers for the better; - overcome obstacles against the odds to make a difference. (“Selection Criteria”).

Any entry which is more than 250 words may not be considered or, at the producers’ discretion, the first 250 words of the entry may be considered.

You may submit any number of nominations. Nominations via email are free except for any internet service providers’ charges which may apply.

To Vote:

To participate in the vote, dial the number provided during the Programme for your chosen Finalist during the period when the vote is open. Each call to the ‘03’ phone number costs no more than calls to geographic numbers from landlines as well as mobile. The total cost will be dependent on your network provider so please check with your network provider before dialling. Maximum of 10 votes per phone number.

Selection process:

The producers of the Programme will select a shortlist of up to 15 from the Nominees they consider best meet the Selection Criteria. The producers’ selection of the shortlisted entrants will be at their sole discretion and will be final.

Each eligible shortlisted entry will be assessed by a judging panel. The panel consisting of Lorraine, Julie Etchingham (President of the Women of the Year) and an independent guest judge (the “Judging Panel”) will select three shortlisted Nominees to become the finalists (“Finalists”). The decision of the Judging Panel will be based on the Selection Criteria.

Each Finalist and/or their nominator will be contacted for confirmation of eligibility, compliance with the entry criteria and availability on the dates required. Failure to comply with any criteria or failure to confirm availability on the dates required may result in disqualification of a Finalist and another Finalist being selected by the Judging Panel from the shortlist.

The three Finalists will be informed live or as a pre-recorded VT during the period 1 October 2018 and 11 October 2018 (inclusive).

The Finalists will then be entered into a public vote which opens at 08.00 a.m. on Thursday 11 October 2018 and closes at 10.00 a.m. on Monday 15 October 2018. The Finalist who receives the greatest number of eligible votes will be the winner. If there is a tie in the number of eligible votes received in respect of two or more Finalists, or if there is any disruption to the voting lines and/or platform due to technical problems or otherwise during the voting period, which the Promoter in its sole discretion considers has rendered the vote invalid, then the Judging Panel shall decide the winner at its sole discretion.

Prize:

The Finalists will be invited to attend the Women of the Year awards lunch and ceremony on Monday 15 October 2018, where the winner will receive Lorraine’s Inspirational Woman of the Year award.

Please note that attendance will be for the Finalists only and no guests will be permitted to attend.

The prize includes admission to the Women of the Year awards lunch on Monday 15 October 2018.

The prize excludes hotel accommodation, meals and drinks, transportation, car hire, travel insurance and personal expenses except for the following:

  • return travel for the Finalists from their town/city of residence to London on Sunday 14 October 2018, and back to their respective town/city on Monday 15 October 2018 (for the Finalists who do not win) or Tuesday 16 October 2018 (for the winner). Travel consists of standard class return rail travel to London from the nearest UK mainland train station to the home address of each Finalist, or if based in the Isle of Man, Northern Island or the Channel Islands, return economy flights to London (airports to be determined by the Promoter);

  • hotel accommodation for the Finalists on Sunday 14 October 2018 and for the winner, an additional night on Monday 15 October 2018;

  • dinner at the hotel accommodation for the winner on Monday 15 October 2018 up to the value of £25;

  • return transportation between the hotel and the Programme studio for the Finalists on Monday 15th October 2018;

  • transportation between the hotel and the Women of the Year lunch for the Finalists on Monday 15 October 2018; and

  • return transportation between the hotel and the studio for the winner on Tuesday 16 October 2018.

It is the responsibility of the Finalists to inform the Prize Provider of any dietary requirements prior to attending the ceremony. It is the responsibility of the Finalists to pay for meals and drinks (other than stated above), any additional hotel charges, room service, mini-bar goods, souvenirs, telephone calls, excursions, treatments, additional travel and accommodation, taxes, insurance and any other expenses which may be incurred when attending the Women of the Year Lunch and the Promoter is not be responsible or liable to refund any such expenses.

It is the responsibility of the Finalists to inform the Prize Provider of any wheelchair or similar access requirements they may have and to adhere to any applicable health and safety guidelines.

Please note that the Finalists will need a current and valid credit/debit card with sufficient available funds in order to check in at the hotel for security deposit purposes.

The Finalists acknowledge that in the event that the Women of the Year lunch does not take place as specified for any reason, the Promoter does not accept responsibility in these circumstances and no alternative Prize package will be provided.

Participation in the Competition:

By submitting a nomination to Lorraine@itv.com, you agree the following:

  • you acknowledge that both you and the Nominee are aged 18 or over;

  • you have read and accept:

  • the Terms and Conditions (https://www.itv.com/terms/participation-charity/itv-general-participation-terms);

  • Privacy Notices (https://www.itv.com/privacy-compsandvotes and https://itvstudios.com/privacy-notice/talent-contributors-audience); and

  • these Lorraine Inspirational Woman of the Year terms and conditions;

  • that the Promoter and/or the Women of the Year team may contact you and/or your Nominee in relation to such nomination

  • you have the explicit consent of the Nominee and any other person mentioned in your nomination to pass their details to us. The Nominee must be aware: (i) their nomination is subject to these terms and conditions and the Promoter’s Privacy Policy; (ii) part of the prize is attending the Women of the Year awards lunch to collect their award; and (iii) they may be required to appear on the Programme and/or other communications supporting the Women of the Year event;

  • you and/or the Nominee may be contacted by the producers, and that you and/or the Nominee may be required for filming purposes and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media. If the Nominee has not agreed to take part in filming and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media then this will result in the entry being disregarded from further participation in the Competition. You also agree that your entry may be published by the Promoter in all media, adapted, in whole or in part, or otherwise exploited in any manner, including but not limited to publication on any website and/or in the Programme in the Promoter’s sole discretion and you hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible. You acknowledge that neither you nor the Nominee will receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you and/or the Nominee in relation to your entry;

  • you are the person who took the photo you are entering, or you have the permission of the person who took the photo to submit the photo as part of the nomination;

  • you do not submit any material which in any way infringes the copyright or other rights of a third party, or which infringes any applicable laws. You hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible and acknowledge that you will not receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you in relation to your entry; and

  • your entry does not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate or may have the effect of being harassing, threatening, abusive or hateful or that otherwise degrades or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability or which refers directly or indirectly to alcohol or intoxication and must not infringe third party rights (for example, by including third party branding). Any such entry will be deemed inappropriate and will not be considered.

By participating in any filming or live performances on the Programme, the entrant and the Nominee agree that such footage may be published or broadcasted in any media in whole or in part by the Promoter including without limitation the Programme. The entrant and the Nominee may be required to fill in and sign a participation form, requesting the individuals to assign their rights in any film or live performance in which they have been involved in respect of the Competition and/or the Programme. Failure of the entrant and/or the Nominee to sign the participation form may result in the disqualification of the entrant and Nominee from the Competition.
