Thank you for visiting this webpage which is all about Lorraine’s Woman of the Year Trailblazer Award 2024 (the “Awards”).
Here, we tell you how we process your and your nominee’s personal information for the purposes of the Awards, the eligibility criteria, the terms and conditions and how to submit your nomination for the Awards.
YOUR PRIVACY
First off, let’s tell you how we intend to collect and process your and your Nominee’s personal information.
Any personal information provided in the nomination will be collected and processed in accordance with our privacy notices which can be found here:

As part of your nomination and during judging process and winner selection for the Programme we may also collect and process personal information which is more sensitive than ‘everyday’ personal information, such as information about your health and criminal history (if any) (“Sensitive Information”).
This Sensitive Information will be collected and processed in accordance with our Sensitive Information Privacy Notice. A hard copy of the above notices can be provided on request.
Please be aware we can only consider your nomination for the Programme if you consent to us processing Sensitive Information about you in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice. If you are happy for us to do this, then please include the following line in your nomination email:
“I consent to the processing of my Sensitive Information in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice.”
If you do not want to provide consent, want to withdraw consent or have any questions about how this information will be used, please contact us at myprivacy@itv.com.
Where relevant, you will need to write separately to any third parties to withdraw consent from them. Please note however, that not providing consent, or withdrawing consent, may potentially have an impact on your continued involvement in the casting process for the Programme and, if applicable, participation in the Programme. We may still be able to use your Sensitive Information despite withdrawal of consent, for example, where we believe such use to be in the public interest, including for journalistic or artistic purposes.
Under certain circumstances, we process your data for the purpose of journalism. This only applies if an organisation or individual acts with a view to publishing something in the public interest. We will use the journalistic exemption where necessary for the Sensitive Information we receive or obtain through our investigation about Nominees as it aligns with the purpose of the Awards.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Opening/closing date & time:
Nomination period opens for entries via email on 3 June 2024 at the time announced in the Lorraine programme (the “Programme”) and/or as published online at www.itv.com/lorraine (the “Website’).
Nomination period closes at 12.00pm on Friday 28 June 2024.
Who can enter:
Nominator and the person nominated by a nominator (the “Nominee”) must meet the following eligibility criteria:
they must both be a UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man resident aged 18 years or over;
by the closing date for applications:
the Nominator must have the permission of the Nominee and any other individuals whose details have been provided as part of the nomination to submit the nomination;
the Nominator is responsible for making the Nominees aware of the terms and conditions for their nomination;
Nominators are responsible for making their Nominees aware of the Promoter’s Privacy Policy;
Nominators must nominate another person and cannot nominate themselves;
Nominees and nominators must not be employed or engaged by ITV (or any ITV group company); and
Nominators and Nominees should note that part of the prize is attending the Awards to collect their award and that they may be required to appear on the Programme and/or other communications supporting the Women of the Year event. Nominees and nominators must agree to take part in any filming, broadcast and publicity related to the Awards.
The nominator must be contactable by phone and/or email within seven (7) days following the closing of the nomination period. The nominator and the Nominee must be available for filming purposes or otherwise on up to three (3) specified dates (as decided at the Promoter’s sole discretion), between Wednesday 19 July 2024 and Thursday 5 September 2024 (inclusive). If selected as the Winner (as defined below), the Nominee must be available to travel to London the night before the event on Sunday 6 October 2024 to appear on the Programme on Monday 7 October 2024 and attend the Awards lunch and Awards ceremony. The Winner must also be available to appear on the Programme on Tuesday 8 October 2024 if required by the Promoter.
As part of our judging process, we will ask about the Nominator’s and the Nominee’s criminal background we will treat this information in accordance with the following Privacy Notice: https://mfx-public-artifacts.s3.amazonaws.com/itvstudios/programme-applicants-participants-contributors-audience.pdf and where this information relates to the Nominator the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice which the Nominator will need to consent to.
Any criminal convictions, civil orders and/or current or pending criminal proceedings and/or anything else negative in the Nominee’s background (which is disclosed to us or we discover) will not automatically exclude the Nominee from being considered for the Programme but we shall exercise our sole discretion. If we later discover this information has been withheld from us, we may withdraw the Nominee from the Programme and/or reclaim or withhold any prize awarded to the Nominee, where relevant. In all cases our decision shall be final.
Proof of eligibility may be required. Failure to comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or with these terms and conditions in any way may result in disqualification of the nominator and their Nominee from the Competition. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Promoter suspects that a nominator and/or Nominee is not eligible to participate in this Competition, the Promoter reserves the right to terminate or suspend their further participation. The Nominee must comply with any instructions and/or directions as given to them by the Promoter, their subcontractors and agents including without limitation in conformity with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and all applicable rules, laws, regulations and guidelines.
Winner selection date:
The Winner will be informed live (either at home or at their place of work as arranged with the nominator) or as a pre-recorded VT during the week commencing Monday 30 September 2024. The Promoter may wish to include the Winner’s family, friends and/or nominator by way of a special VT which will showcase why the Finalist is special, at the Promoter’s discretion. It is envisaged that this VT includes interviews with people that know the Winner to explain what the Winner does, why they have been nominated and why they deserve to win.
The winner will be presented with an award at the Awards lunch on Monday 7 October 2024.
How to enter:
Viewers must nominate and provide details of a woman they believe deserves to win the Lorraine Woman of the Year Award.
To make a nomination, send an email to Lorraine@itv.com with ‘Woman of the Year’ in the subject line and the following information in the body of the email:
Your name and the name of your Nominee;
Your relationship to the Nominee;
Your telephone number;
The telephone number of the Nominee;
A headshot photo of the Nominee in colour and in JPEG format up to 10MB in size; and
A description (to be no greater than 250 words) outlining why the nominee should be awarded the ‘Lorraine’s Woman of the Year Trailblazer Award including how the nominee has:
dedicated a large amount of time to an organisation, community or specific people;
gone above and beyond the call of duty;
shown care, compassion and kindness;
broken down barriers for the better;
overcome obstacles against the odds to make a difference,
(“Selection Criteria”).
Any entry which is more than 250 words may not be considered or, at the producers’ discretion, only the first 250 words of the entry may be considered.
Please also remember to read the “Your Privacy” section above, our privacy notice and our Sensitive Information Privacy Notice and if you are happy for us to process your Sensitive Information in this way, then please include the following line in your nomination:
“I consent to the processing of my Sensitive Information in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice.”
A nominator can only nominate one (1) person. Nominations via email are free except for any internet service providers’ charges which may apply.
Selection process:
The producers of the Programme will select a shortlist of up to fifteen (15) from the Nominees they consider best meet the Selection Criteria. The producers’ selection of the shortlisted entrants will be at their sole discretion and will be final.
Each eligible shortlisted entry will be assessed by a judging panel. The panel consisting of Lorraine Kelly, Ria Hebden, Adele Roberts and Lindsey Burrow and such other panellists as may be communicated (the “Judging Panel”) will select the winner (“Winner”). The decision of the Judging Panel will be based on the Selection Criteria.
The Winner and/or their nominator will be contacted for confirmation of eligibility, compliance with the entry criteria and availability on the dates required. Failure to comply with any criteria or failure to confirm availability on the dates required may result in disqualification of the Winner and another Nominee being selected by the Judging Panel from the shortlist.
The Winner will be informed live or as a pre-recorded VT during the week commencing Monday 30 September 2024.
Prize:
The Winner will be invited to attend the Awards lunch and ceremony on Monday 7 October 2024 at the Royal Lancaster London, Lancaster Terrace, London W2 2TY, where the winner will receive Lorraine’s Woman of the Year Trailblazer Award.
Please note that attendance will be for the Winner only and no guest(s) will be permitted to attend, unless disabled support is required.
The prize includes admission to the Awards lunch on Monday 7 October 2024.
The prize excludes hotel accommodation, meals and drinks, transportation, car hire, travel insurance and personal expenses except for the following:
return travel for the Winner from their town/city of residence to London on Sunday 6 October 2024, and back to their respective town/city on Tuesday 8 October 2024. Travel consists of standard class return rail travel to London from the nearest UK mainland train station to the home address of the Winner, or if based in the Isle of Man, Northern Island or the Channel Islands, return economy flights to London (airports to be determined by the Promoter);
hotel accommodation for the Winner on Sunday 6 October 2024 and Monday 7 October 2024;
dinner allowance up to £25 (twenty-five pounds) at the hotel accommodation; and
return transportation between the hotel and the Programme studio for the Winner on Monday 7 October 2024; and transportation between the hotel and the Women of the Year lunch for the Winner on Monday 7 October 2024 and Tuesday 8 October 2024.
In the event the Winner is unable to attend the lunch for any reason, one of the runner’s up will be awarded the title at the Promoter’s discretion.
It is the responsibility of the Winner to inform Women of the Year of any dietary requirements prior to attending the ceremony. It is the responsibility of the Winner to pay for meals and drinks (other than stated above), any additional hotel charges, room service, mini-bar goods, souvenirs, telephone calls, excursions, treatments, additional travel and accommodation, taxes, insurance and any other expenses which may be incurred when attending the Women of the Year lunch and the Promoter is not be responsible or liable to refund any such expenses.
It is the responsibility of the Winner to inform the prize providers of any wheelchair or similar access requirements they may have and to adhere to any applicable health and safety guidelines.
Please note that the Winner will need a current and valid credit/debit card with sufficient available funds in order to check in at the hotel for security deposit purposes.
The Winner acknowledges that in the event that the Awards lunch does not take place as specified for any reason, the Promoter does not accept responsibility in these circumstances and no alternative Prize package will be provided.
Participation in the Competition:
By submitting a nomination to Lorraine@itv.com, you agree the following:
you acknowledge that both you and the Nominee are aged 18 or over;
you have read and accept:
the General Participation Terms and Conditions (https://www.itv.com/terms/participation-charity/itv-general-participation-terms);
these Lorraine I Woman of the Year Trailblazer Award terms and conditions;
that the Promoter and/or the Women of the Year team may contact you and/or your Nominee in relation to such nomination;
you have the explicit consent of the Nominee and any other person mentioned in your nomination to pass their details to us. The Nominee must be aware: (i) their nomination is subject to these terms and conditions (ii) part of the prize is attending the Awards lunch to collect their award; (iii) they may be required to appear on the Programme and/or other communications supporting the Women of the Year event; and (iv) of the Promoter’s Privacy Policy;
you and/or the Nominee may be contacted by the producers, and that you and/or the Nominee may be required for filming purposes and/or other appearances at
any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media. If the Nominee has not agreed to take part in filming and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media then this will result in the entry being disregarded from further participation in the Competition. You also agree that your entry may be published by the Promoter in all media, adapted, in whole or in part, or otherwise exploited in any manner, including but not limited to publication on any website and/or in the Programme in the Promoter’s sole discretion and you hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible. You acknowledge that neither you nor the Nominee will receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you and/or the Nominee in relation to your entry;
you are the person who took the photo you are entering, or you have the permission of the person who took the photo to submit the photo as part of the nomination;
you do not submit any material which in any way infringes the copyright or other rights of a third party, or which infringes any applicable laws. You hereby waive all moral and similar rights in your entry to the fullest extent possible and acknowledge that you will not receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by you in relation to your entry;
that nothing in your entry or the materials you submit will infringe any data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (both as amended, replaced or repealed from time to time); and
your entry does not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate or may have the effect of being harassing, threatening, abusive or hateful or that otherwise degrades or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability or which refers directly or indirectly to alcohol or intoxication and must not infringe third party rights (for example, by including third party branding). Any such entry will be deemed inappropriate and will not be considered.
By participating in any filming or live performances on the Programme, the nominator and the Nominee agree that such footage may be published or broadcasted in any media in whole or in part by the Promoter including without limitation the Programme. The nominator and the Nominee may be required to fill in and sign a participation form, requesting the individuals to assign their rights in any film or live performance in which they have been involved in respect of the Competition and/or the Programme. Failure of the nominator and/or the Nominee to sign the participation form may result in the disqualification of the nominator and Nominee from the Competition.
