Here, we tell you how we process your and your nominee’s personal information for the purposes of the Awards, the eligibility criteria, the terms and conditions and how to submit your nomination for the Awards.
YOUR PRIVACY
First off, let’s tell you how we intend to collect and process your and your nominee’s personal information.

(our “Privacy Notice(s)”).
As part of the nomination and during judging process and winner selection for the Programme we may also collect and process personal information which is more sensitive than ‘everyday’ personal information, such as information about your health and criminal history (if any) (“Sensitive Information”).
This Sensitive Information will be collected and processed in accordance with our Sensitive Information Privacy Notice. A hard copy of the above notices can be provided on request.
Please be aware we can only consider your nomination for the Programme if you consent to us processing Sensitive Information about you in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice. If you are happy for us to do this, then please include the following line in your nomination email:
“I consent to the processing of my Sensitive Information in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice.”
If you do not want to provide consent, want to withdraw consent or have any questions about how this information will be used, please contact us at myprivacy@itv.com.
Where relevant, you will need to write separately to any third parties to withdraw consent from them. Please note however, that not providing consent, or withdrawing consent, may potentially have an impact on your continued involvement in the casting process for the Programme and, if applicable, participation in the Programme. We may still be able to use your Sensitive Information despite withdrawal of consent, for example, where we believe such use to be in the public interest, including for journalistic or artistic purposes.
Under certain circumstances, we process your data for the purpose of journalism. This only applies if an organisation or individual acts with a view to publishing something in the public interest. We will use the journalistic exemption where necessary for the Sensitive Information we receive or obtain through our investigation about nominees as it aligns with the purpose of the Awards.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Opening/closing date & time:
The nomination period opens for entries via email on Friday 6 September 2024 at the time announced on Good Morning Britain’s social media accounts and online at www.itv.com/gmb (the “Website”).
The nomination period closes at 9.00am on Monday 30 September 2024.
Eligibility criteria:
1. Nominees and nominators must both be UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man residents;
2. Nominees may be individuals or a group of people;
3. Nominators must be 18 years old or over to nominate;
4. Nominees must be aged 45 years old or over at the time of nomination;
5. Nominees must be a volunteer and not a fundraiser. Any person or group who has fundraised will not be eligible for nomination;
6. If a nominee’s contribution includes helping any vulnerable adult(s), a child or group of children or any other person(s), it is the responsibility of the nominator to obtain permission from the child/children (and their parent(s) or legal guardian(s)), the vulnerable adult(s) (and any person in loco parentis if required) and the person(s) before making the nomination;
7. The Promoter reserves the right to contact the relevant parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to check the relevant permissions have been obtained and to exclude nominations for which the requisite permissions have not been given;
8. It is the nominator’s responsibility to:
a. obtain permission from the nominee to nominate them;
b. have any other required consent(s) before submitting their nomination;
c. make the nominee aware: (i) that their nomination is subject to these terms and conditions; (ii) of the Privacy Notices; (iii) that part of the prize is to appear live on-air on the Programme at the Programme studio or at another location and/or in pre-recorded segment(s). The nominee and nominator must agree to take part in filming, broadcast and publicity related to the Awards;
9. Nominees must not be employed or engaged by or be members or the immediate families (including any live-in partner) of employees of companies within the ITV group of companies and any of their subsidiaries and/or agencies associated with the Awards;
10. Nominators must nominate another person and cannot nominate themselves;
11. Nominators and nominees must be available for filming purposes or otherwise between: (i) Thursday 14 November 2024 and Friday 22 November 2024 (inclusive); and (ii) in December 2024 at a date as confirmed by the Promoter and/or the Programme producers; and
12. As part of the judging process, the Promoter will ask about the nominator’s and nominee’s criminal background and will treat this information as described above. Any criminal convictions, civil orders and/or current criminal proceedings or investigations and other matters including those that may cause potential disrepute (which are disclosed to or discovered by the Promoter) may not automatically exclude nominee from the selection process but the Promoter, the ITV/Good Morning Britain production team and/or any judging panel shall be entitled to exercise their sole discretion in this regard. In all cases the decision of the Promoter, the ITV/Good Morning Britain production team and/or the judging panel(s) shall be final.
Please note that the Promoter reserves the right to exclude corporate-backed fundraising and volunteer work or fundraising for which the individual has been paid.
Proof of eligibility may be required. Failure to comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or with these terms and conditions in any way may result in disqualification of the nominator and their nominee. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Promoter suspects that a nominator and/or nominee is not eligible to participate in the Awards, the Promoter reserves the right to terminate or suspend their further participation. The nominee must comply with any instructions and/or directions as given to them by the Promoter, their subcontractors and agents including without limitation in conformity with the Ofcom Broadcasting Code and all applicable rules, laws, regulations and guidelines.
The Promoter reserves the right to terminate the nomination and/or participation of the nominee to the Awards in the event the nominator and/or nominee does not have any of the required consent(s) set out in these terms and conditions or the consent(s) are subsequently withdrawn.
Winner selection date:
The successful nominee(s) will be informed that they are a finalist between 14 November and 22 November 2024. The Promoter may wish to include the successful nominee(s)’ family, friends and/or nominator by way of a special VT which will showcase why they are special, at the Promoter’s discretion. It is envisaged that this VT includes interviews with people that know the successful nominee(s) to explain what they do, why they have been nominated and why they deserve to win.
The successful nominee(s) will also be required to appear live in the Programme at the Programme studios or another location as confirmed by the Promoter and/or the producer, in December 2024 (at a date as communicated by the Promoter and/or the producer). The winner will be informed live on the Programme or before as a pre-recorded VT, at the discretion of the Promoter and/or Programme producers, that they have won the award.
Method of nomination:
Viewers must nominate and provide details of an individual or group of individuals they believe deserves to win the Len Goodman Award - Volunteer of the Year Award 2024.
To make a nomination, nominators must send an email to gmb1mm@itv.com with ‘Len Goodman Volunteer of the Year award’ in the subject line and the following information in the body of the email:
Their name and the name of the individual or group of individuals they would like to nominate;
Their telephone number and their nominee’s telephone number;
Their relationship with the nominee;
Confirmation that the nominator has received the necessary permission(s) to nominate the individual or group of individuals; and
A description (to be no greater than 200 words) outlining why the nominee should be awarded the Len Goodman Award - Volunteer of the Year Award 2024 including how the nominee has gone above and beyond to help someone or a community overcome loneliness and why they should be recognised for the selflessness act of volunteering (the “Selection Criteria”).
Please also remember to read the “Your Privacy” section above, our privacy notice and our Sensitive Information Privacy Notice and if you are happy for us to process your Sensitive Information in this way, then please include the following line in your nomination:
“I consent to the processing of my Sensitive Information in accordance with the Sensitive Information Privacy Notice.”
Any entry which is more than 200 words may not be considered or, at the producers’ discretion, only the first 200 words of the entry may be considered.
A nominator can only nominate one (1) person or one (1) group. Nominations via email are free except for any internet service providers’ charges which may apply.
Selection process:
The producers of the Programme will select a shortlist of up to five (5) from the nominees they consider best meet the Selection Criteria for the Awards. The producers’ selection of the shortlisted entrants will be at their sole discretion and will be final.
Each eligible shortlisted entry will be assessed by a judging panel. The panel consisting of Good Morning Britain’s presenters, charity representative, celebrity, Good Morning Britain’s production member and an independent judge (the “Judging Panel”) will select the winner. The decision of the Judging Panel will be based on the Selection Criteria.
The successful nominee(s) and/or their nominator will be contacted for confirmation of eligibility, compliance with the entry criteria and availability on the dates required. Failure to comply with any criteria or failure to confirm availability on the dates required may result in disqualification of the winner and any other nominee nominee(s) being selected by the Judging Panel from the shortlist.
The winner will be informed live in December 2024 at a date as confirmed by the Promoter and/or producers or before as a pre-recorded VT (at the discretion of the Promoter and/or Programme producers).
Prize:
The winner will receive an award whilst or after appearing live on the Programme at the Programme studio or another location, as confirmed by the Promoter and/or the Programme producer.
In the event a winner is unable to appear on the Programme for any reason, one of the runner’s up will be awarded the title at the Promoter’s discretion.
By submitting a nomination to gmb1mm@itv.com, the nominator agrees that:
they are aged 18 or over and that their nominee is aged 45 years old or over;
they have read and accept:
- the General Participation Terms and Conditions (https://www.itv.com/terms/participation-charity/itv-general-participation-terms);
- these Good Morning Britain’s 1 Million Minutes Award 2024 – Len Goodman Volunteer of the Year terms and conditions;
the Promoter and/or the Good Morning Britain production team may contact them and/or their nominee in relation to such nomination;
they have the explicit consent of the nominee and any other person mentioned in their nomination to pass their details to us. The nominee must be aware: (i) their nomination is subject to these terms and conditions (ii) part of the prize is to appear live on air on the Programme at the Programme studio or at another location, in pre-recorded segment(s) and/or other communications supporting the Awards; and (iv) of the Promoter’s Privacy Policy;
they and/or the nominee may be contacted by the producers, and that they and/or the nominee may be required for filming purposes and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media. If the nominee does not agree to taking part in filming and/or other appearances at any time for simultaneous or later broadcast in any media then this will result in the entry being disregarded from further participation in the Awards. The nominator also agree that their entry may be published by the Promoter in all media, adapted, in whole or in part, or otherwise exploited in any manner, including but not limited to publication on any website and/or in the Programme in the Promoter’s sole discretion and they hereby waive all moral and similar rights in their entry to the fullest extent possible. The nominator acknowledges that neither the nominator nor the nominee will receive any fee or royalty payment from the Promoter, producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by the nominator and/or the nominee in relation to the nominator’s entry;
they do not submit any material which in any way infringes the copyright or other rights of a third party, or which infringes any applicable laws;
that nothing in their entry or the materials you submit will infringe any data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 (both as amended, replaced or repealed from time to time); and
their entry does not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate or may have the effect of being harassing, threatening, abusive or hateful or that otherwise degrades or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability or which refers directly or indirectly to alcohol or intoxication and must not infringe third party rights (for example, by including third party branding). Any such entry will be deemed inappropriate and will not be considered.
By participating in any filming or live performances on the Programme, the nominator and the nominee agree that such footage may be published or broadcasted in any media in whole or in part by the Promoter including without limitation the Programme. The nominator and the nominee may be required to fill in and sign a participation form, requesting the individuals to assign their rights in any film or live performance in which they have been involved in respect of the Awards and/or the Programme. Failure of the nominator and/or the nominee to sign the participation form may result in the disqualification of the nominator and nominee from the Awards.
