CHANNEL ISLANDS SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2023 VOTE: VOTING INTERACTION INFORMATION
Voting method and cost:
Viewers may vote for which Channel Islands sports personality they would like to win the award of ‘Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year 2023’ as specified in the ‘Channel Islands Sports Awards 2023’ programme (the “Programme”) by the following method:
Phone: Dial the number as stated in the promotional information and follow instructions. You will hear a short message thanking you for your vote. Each phone vote costs 5 pence - plus your network access charge. The total cost will be dependent on your network operator. The Promoter and producers of the Programme recommend that for the most up to date access charges viewers enquire directly with their network operator.
If there are technical or other issues with the votes, the Promoter reserves the right to discount the votes (as applicable) and announce the result of the vote without including those affected votes.
The Promoter is unable to confirm the integrity of and is not responsible for any vote services promoted outside the Channel Islands or for any unofficial voting methods as these are not within their control. Votes must not be sent in through agents or on behalf of another person, and viewers cannot submit votes as an agent of any other person. The Promoter and the Programme’s producers reserve the right to discount votes if they have reasonable grounds to suspect they have been made from unofficial third party voting services or otherwise in breach of any applicable terms and conditions.
If for any reason there is a discrepancy between the numbers advertised on air and those given on any other platforms then the numbers on air will prevail and the vote shall proceed on that basis.
Please note it is not possible to vote via any method not stated in these terms and conditions.
Opening/closing times:
Voting opens at 10:00 a.m. on Monday 15 January 2024 and closes at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday 8 February 2024.
Voting restrictions:
You may vote up to five (5) times using the same phone number. If you exceed this limit your vote will not be counted but you may still be charged where applicable.
Voting results:
A panel of judges consisting of individuals who have experience of working within the sports industry (including an independent judge) and the public will be able to vote for their favourite finalist. The scoring system works on a points system which ranks the marks from the judges and the result of the public vote, and converts the rankings to points (“translated points”). The points scoring system works on a 50:50 basis. Fifty percent of the finalists’ total points come from the judges’ marks and fifty percent comes from the public vote.
The judges will rank the four (4) finalists. The highest ranked finalist will receive four (4) points and the lowest ranked finalist will receive one (1) point. The public votes are translated in a similar way – i.e. the finalist who receive the most votes will receive four (4) points in the public vote rankings.
The translated points from the judges’ scores and the public votes are then combined in order to produce an overall ranking of the finalists (“combined points”). As announced in the Programme, the finalist with the highest combined points will be the winner of the award.
In the event of a tie in the combined points, the public votes will take precedence, and the finalist with the most public votes will be the winner. If there is a tie in the public votes, the tied winning finalists will share the award.
Any variation on the format of elimination as set out in these terms and conditions will be announced in the Programme and such format as announced in the Programme will prevail.
Contingencies:
If the final outcome of the vote cannot be reasonably determined because of a technical failure or other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, the producer of the Programme, their agents or sub-contractors, then the Promoter will use the latest available voting statistics, combined with the judges’ scores to determine the winner. In the event that no voting statistics are available, the judges’ scores alone will determine the winner and the judges’ decision will be final.
