Shooting completes on The Beast Must Die
London, 16th November: The Beast Must Die, BritBox’s first scripted, original drama, and second original production to be produced in the streamer’s first year, finished shooting on the Isle of Wight on Saturday.
An initial set of still images from the production has now been released.
The original British five-part revenge thriller is being produced by New Regency Television International and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free. New Regency is also the international distributor on the production.
The production adhered to comprehensive Covid-19 protocols, following strict social distancing measures; 5000 lab tests were used on 190 members of cast and crew (in addition to testing around 700 supporting artists). This enabled the team to film a total of 600 hours over the 61 day shoot (of which nine were shot at sea) and across 69 different locations on the Isle of Wight.
The drama will be available on the service in early 2021.
The Beast Must Die tells the story of a grieving mother who infiltrates the life of the man she believes killed her son. The stellar cast includes Bafta, Golden Globe & Emmy nominated Jared Harris (Chernobyl, The Crown, Mad Men), Cush Jumbo OBE (The Good Wife, The Good Fight, Deadwater Fell), Billy Howle (MotherFatherSon, On Chesil Beach), Nathaniel Parker (The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, The Outcast, Vanity Fair) Geraldine James (Back to Life, Anne with an E, Utopia), Maeve Dermody (Carnival Row, Marcella, The Frankenstein Chronicles) and newcomers Mia Tomlinson and Barney Sayburn.
The series is being directed by Dome Karukoski (Tolkien, Tom of Finland), produced by Sarada McDermott (Bridgerton, Official Secrets) and adapted for the screen by screenwriter Gaby Chiappe (Their Finest, Shetland, Vera). Executive Producers are Ed Rubin and Emma Broughton for New Regency, Marina Brackenbury and David W Zucker for Scott Free, Nathaniel Parker and Gaby Chiappe.
The Beast Must Die will be available exclusively on BritBox UK in 2021.
