Children of the Cult

An international investigation into one of the world’s biggest and most successful cults,  the Rajneesh movement, which in the 1970s and 80s had tens of thousands of followers as well as communes in more than 50 countries including the UK. Filmmaker Maroesja Perizonius, herself a child of the Rajneesh communes, makes contact with other former Rajneesh children and, together, they reveal an awful truth about the organisation that has been hidden for forty years. The movement still thrives today yet no one has been called to account for the harm caused to children in its communes. In her unflinching documentary for the BAFTA-winning Exposure strand, Maroesja unmasks perpetrators and demands answers from senior members inside the Cult.  And she asks how its guru, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, was able to build a society with its own moral code - where terrible crimes against children were facilitated and normalised, without any outside intervention.
