Row over Bristol City ticket prices

Bristol City fans have expressed outrage at the price of tickets for the side's first away game back in the Championship.

The board of Bristol City's Supporters Club & Trust have decided to stay away because they think £39 is extortionate.

A spokesperson for Bristol City has issued this response

The game will take place at Hillsborough on Saturday 8 August.

Bristol City FC are holding an open top bus tour on Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate this seasons success.

The team are the Sky Bet League One champions and have secured promotion to the Championship after beating Bradford City earlier this month.

Two buses will carry players and staff from Ashton Gate at 12.30pm and head through North Street and Bedminster towards the centre.

After passing through Redcliffe, the bus will park at the Lloyds Amphitheater at around 2pm for a short presentation.

Bristol City will pick up the League One trophy in just under two weeks after being crowned champions at the weekend.

They'll be able to celebrate with the silverware at their next home game against Walsall on Sunday 3rd May.

Bristol City are champions of League One.

Swindon's automatic promotion hopes have been dented after losing 1-0 to West Country rivals Yeovil at the County Ground. James Berrett scored the only goal in the 58th minute, to maintain Paul Sturrock's unbeaten start as Glovers manager.

Cheltenham's hopes of avoiding relegation to the Conference have suffered a set-back after losing 2-0 at Northampton. But rivals Tranmere and Hartlepool also lost, so Gary Johnson's side remain second-from-bottom and one point from safety with two games left.

The two-horse race for the Conference title will go to the final game of the season. Both Bristol Rovers and Barnet drew today, so the Pirates are still a point behind their rivals. Ellis Harrison scored Rovers' goal at Dover. The hosts rescued a point two minutes from time.

And Forest Green Rovers came from behind to win 4-2 at Gateshead, thanks to a Jon Parkin double, Kurtis Guthrie and Rob Sinclair.

City are playing Coventry this afternoon, needing just one point from their last three games to guarantee the League One title, after nearest rivals Preston could only draw at Port Vale last night.

Bristol City will hope to end a 60 year wait for a league title this afternoon when they welcome Coventry to Ashton Gate. City are 8 points clear of second placed Preston who drew two all with Port Vale. City's superior goal difference means they need just a point to secure the League One title.

Having won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy in March, City are now on course to become the first team to complete the lower league double of Football League Trophy and third tier title. Thousands are expected at the ground for the 3 o'clock kick off and excitement is already building on Twitter.
