Wiltshire's barefoot walker crosses halfway point of 700-mile trek for children with rare diseases
An army major from Wiltshire whose daughter lives with a rare genetic condition has crossed the halfway point of his 700-mile trek to raise money for her treatment.
Major Chris Brannigan, who is based in Tidworth, left Lands End in Cornwall on Monday 6 July and has so far raised more than £150,000.
It is hoped the gruelling challenge will help fund treatment for children with rare genetic diseases, including his eight-year-old daughter Hasti who was diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) in 2018.
On Tuesday 21 July Maj Brannigan delivered a petition to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street, asking the Government to implement an improved plan to tackle rare diseases and invest in research.
Major Brannigan will finish his trek in Edinburgh and aims to raise £400,000.
The family's final goal is £2.5 million to provide life-saving treatment for others living with life-limiting conditions.
