'Huge-hearted' Cornish teacher posts video of himself singing farewell to pupils

A teacher "with a huge heart" from a Cornish primary school has been praised by parents after he posted a heartfelt goodbye video to his pupils.

Ali Hoswell, who works at Pencoys Primary School in Redruth, filmed himself singing a song to reception students after the pandemic meant he was not able to celebrate with them on their last day of term.

His song of choice was 'You've Got a Friend in Me' from Toy Story.

Ali decided to make the video for the four and five-year-olds as he was disappointed on not being able to see them on their last day as his students.

He said, "These children should have never missed out on their first Sports Day, first class photographs, first educational visits, but unfortunately the pandemic caused all this to happen.

"We are never going to forget the time the schools closed and the children had to learn from home. I want to thank every single parent out there who has supported their children at home, whilst balancing your own jobs, your own lives and your own worries."

Ali, 29, has become an internet sensation throughout the lockdown. His videos on both TikTok and Facebook have been enjoyed by children from the school, who have watched him sing, dance, read and teach lessons.
