Are these double yellow lines in Gloucestershire the shortest in the world?

A stretch of double yellow lines, apparently marooned on a Gloucestershire road could be the shortest - and most pointless - in the world.

They are in Moorend Park Road in Leckhampton and local councillor Martin Horwood says they are "barmy".

They have been painted onto a small patch of the road surface that seems to have been relaid by a utility company. Yellow lines either side of that patch can hardly be seen and whoever painted the new ones failed to align them with the old ones properly.

Cllr Horwood says, “I guess it shows willing that the lines were repainted but they could have restored nearby lines at the same time. It is a nightmare trying to join up utility company and council repairs and markings but this really suggests the county still has work to do.”

David Pritchett, Gloucester County Council's highways manager, says: "Clearly these lines are in need of attention and will be re-painted as soon as possible."
