Visitors from Taunton among those asked to 'move on' by police after visiting Dorset beauty spot
Tourists from Taunton were among those asked to "move on" by police officers after visiting the Dorset tourist destination.
Portland Bill has been closed to visitors for several weeks and its car park has been closed in a bid to discourage visitors from travelling to the beauty spot.
Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team were at Portland Bill yesterday (Sunday 10 May) where they found 14 cars.
Police officers asked visitors from as far as Southampton and Taunton to leave the location.
The visitors from Somerset would have travelled around an hour and 30 minutes to get to Portland Bill.
A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Police said: "Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team would like to remind everyone the car park at Portland Bill remains closed.
"Please remember essential journeys only. 14 cars were asked to move on, some from as far as Taunton, and Southampton."
