Padstow Obby Oss festival cancelled in the wake of coronavirus
One of the biggest events in the Cornish calendar has been cancelled in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
Padstow's May Day celebration - better known as Obby Oss - will not go ahead as planned, to help stop the spread of the virus.
Tens of thousands of people flock to Padstow from all over the world every year to take part in the celebrations.
See below for previous Obby Oss celebrations:
The two osses - known elsewhere as hobby horses - take separate routes through the town and are followed by a procession of dancers and musicians.
The safety of the event was called into question last year after a nurse who was attending the celebrations seriously hurt her neck and later died in hospital.
Posts to Padstow's community social media pages confirmed organisers have cancelled the event.
They added the decision was made 'with regret' and aim to see celebrations return next year.
