Woman dies in hospital after suffering serious neck injury in Obby Oss celebrations in Padstow

A 34-year-old woman who suffered a serious neck injury during the traditional Obby Oss celebrations in Padstow has died in hospital.

Devon and Cornwall Police said Laura Smallwood, from the town, died on Saturday morning in hospital after being found injured on Wednesday.

Police are investigating how she was injured and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Norlund said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with Laura's family at this very sad time.

"We continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry to establish how Laurasustained her injuries.

"At this time, we would like to hear from any witnesses and anyone withinformation, particularly anyone with any relevant mobile phone or camerafootage taken around the event."
