Body found after man 'washed into sea' near Bridport

Rescue services have found a body after a man reportedly washed into the sea near Bridport.

Dorset Police was called yesterday (Sunday 3 November) afternoon to a report of a man in the water near Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

Officers say the man was reportedly walking along the beach with a woman when a wave swept them out to sea.

The woman made it back to shore and was treated by the ambulance service.

The Coastguard and other emergency services carried out "extensive searches" throughout the afternoon.

A body was found this morning which is believed to be the man who went missing.
