West Country cricket fans have said an emotional goodbye to the region's women's team - but captain Heather Knight says she hopes the domestic game will continue to thrive despite moving to a different format.

The women's Super League comes to an end this weekend as Western Storm bid to secure their second title in four years.

From next summer the competition will be replaced by The Hundred, a new format designed to be easier to understand and attract a new audience.

There will be eight city-based men's and women's teams - but fans in the West Country will miss out on the action.

On a wet Wednesday evening it was a disappointing end to Western Storm's last game at the county ground.

Yorkshire Diamonds made an imposing 104-4 from their ten overs, and the hosts collapsed to 23-3 before Somerset pair Sophie Luff and Fran Wilson combined to take them to within five runs of victory.

The team move on to Sunday's final at Hove, hoping to collect their second title and finish the season on a high.
