A car was recovered from Brean beach on Saturday night after becoming engulfed by the incoming tide.

The car, which was parked on the beach, was rapidly covered by water, and then became stuck in the mud.

The Burnham-on-Sea hovercraft were tasked to help Burnham coastguard crews to tow the car out.

The driver had gone for a walk and believed the car was far enough from the water, unaware of the extremely high tide that evening.
