Plymouth tower block evacuated for second time in a week

A high rise tower block in Plymouth, that has similar cladding to that used on Grenfell Tower in London has had to be evacuated for the second time in a week.

Firefighters were called to Tamar House in Devonport last night, Sunday 5 November, to deal with a fire in a rubbish chute.

It is one of three blocks in the Mountwise area of Plymouth which were found to have combustible cladding in the outside of their buildings in August following June's fire at Grenfell Tower.

The flats were also evacuated on Thursday 2 November due to a faulty alarm in another of the blocks, Tavy House.
