High-rise tower block evacuated after fire scare
One of the three residential tower blocks in Plymouth that was found to have similar outer cladding to that of London's Grenfell Tower, had to be evacuated after a fire alarm was activated on 31 October.
In August, the cladding used on the outside of three buildings in Devonport were found to be combustible.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to the area just after 4pm - and say they sent an 'enhanced' number of crews to the block.
There was found to have been no fire incident, but the building was evacuated in accordance with a drawn up fire escape plan in line with rules brought in after the fatal blaze in London.
Crews say there was no fire at Tavy House on Duke Street, but evacuation was necessary.
