One of Britain's most wanted conmen spotted in Geneva
One of Britain's most wanted criminals who conned a Somerset woman out of £850,000 has been spotted.
Authorities are investigating a possible sighting of suspected fraudster Mark Acklom was apparently photographed in Geneva while police were searching for him in Spain.
He is wanted by Avon and Somerset Police in connection with the romancing of a divorcee and allegedly fleecing her of £850,000 in life savings.
The 43-year-old is said to have left his alleged victim financially and emotionally devastated after promising to marry her. Carolyn Woods told ITV's This Morning back in October 2016 that "the only reason I'm still here is because of my daughters."
She alleges that Mr Acklom posed as an MI6 agent and conned her into "lending" him her savings.
Last year a European Arrest Warrant was issued for Acklom and he was believed to be at large in Spain.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman confirmed that:
Mark Acklom is wanted under a European Arrest Warrant and described as:
43 years old
5ft 10in tall
medium build
dark brown hair and green eyes
Avon and Somerset detectives are urging anyone who sees him to call the police immediately.
