HMP Bristol receives £400,000 in funding to make improvements
HMP Bristol has started making improvements to safety and security after receiving £400,000 for the prison.
This includes extra money to install CCTV cameras across the prison with the hope of deterring violence. They have also introduced a number of interventions for emotional support such as anger management.
Elizabeth Truss, Justice Secretary, said that "our prisons need to be places of safety and reform and our dedicated frontline staff are vital to achieving this ambition."
There has also been significant investment into the modernisation of courts.
Work is being carried out to digitise the courts and speed up the delivery of justice.
This includes increasing the use of video links and developing plans for simple, online systems so civil disputes can be resolved more quickly.
