£100,000 reward put up for Melanie Hall's killer
A national newspaper has doubled the reward on offer to catch the killer of Melanie Hall.
The 25-year-old hospital clerk disappeared after a night out at the former Cadillacs nightclub in Bath in June 1996, 20 years ago.
Her disappearance sparked a major police hunt but it was not until 13 years later that her remains were found near the M5.
Despite the evidence, Melanie's killer has never been found. Her parents Steve and Pat Hall, who live in Wiltshire, have never given up on her murderer being brought to justice.
The couple have put up their life savings - £50,000 - as a reward to encourage people to come forward with information. They had been setting aside the money in case they needed to be looked after in their old age.
Now the Sun has matched the reward on offer from Melanie's parents - doubling it to £100,000 - making it one of the biggest in criminal justice history.
A police incident room was set up on the 20th anniversary of Melanie's disappearance. Police have uncovered DNA evidence that may lead them to her killer. The clothes she was wearing the night she disappeared have also never been recovered.
They know at least person out there can answer their questions - and now a £100,000 reward could mean they come forward.
