It's hoped the 'New Ambition for Inclusive Excellence' will transform music education for young people with special needs and disabilities.

They say they're 'aiming to do for music what the Paralympics has done for disabled sports'.

The programme is being paid for by fundraisers who are on track to raise £45 million by 2017.

UK's first disabled-led regional youth orchestra, the South-West Open Youth Orchestra, will be taking part.

Based in Bristol, the South-West Open Youth Orchestra is the first of its kind, working with young disabled musicians who play a range of musical instruments, including a custom-made digital musical instrument called Clarion that can be controlled simply by the movement of a musician's eyes.
