Teen speedboat death inquest resumes
An inquest into the death of a 14-year-old girl who died after becoming trapped under a capsized speedboat resumes today.
Emily Gardner, 14, from Gloucester, died in the accident at Brixham harbour while on holiday with a friend's family in May last year.
The teenager was on the 16ft speedboat along with two school friends both 15, and a 50-year-old man when it overturned.
There were attempts to save the teenager, including by two jet ski riders from the group, who dived down to try and reach her.
However by the time she was freed it was too late, and she did not regain consciousness.
The teenager was described as "popular, happy, friendly" in a moving tribute from her school.
The hearing, in Torquay, is expected to last two days.
