Harmonie Rose's parents join thousands calling for rollout of meningitis vaccine

Families of children who have survived meningitis have joined a leading West Country charity to campaign for the rollout of the potentially lifesaving vaccine.>The immunisation programme started last September for all newborn babies, however those born before July are not currently eligible for the vaccine.>Now the parents of Harmonie Rose from Bath who lost all her limbs after contracting the disease have joined 400,000 others in signing a petition for the NHS scheme to be extended.

Harmonie Rose Allen was struck down by meningitis B just days after she took her first steps at 10 months old. Day by day, her parents prepared themselves to say goodbye to their little girl.>She was covered in an horrific rash from head to toe - her kidneys failed, her heart was very weak, her body was taken over by the disease.

Since that dark day in 2014 her family campaigned tirelessly to make a vaccine available to newborns. In September last year it was finally rolled out. >But there are still many more children who are not entitled to the treatment. Children like Faye Burdett.

Faye's parents released this photo that shows the 2-year-old just hours before her death. It has sparked a public outcry and now more than 400,000 people have signed a petition calling for a changein the Government's vaccination policy.
